About the race
What is STAGE X?
STAGE X is a fitness race that combines running and functional fitness stations into one race format. Athletes alternate run segments with stations such as SkiErg, Rowing, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Farmer's Carry, Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls.
Who is STAGE X for?
STAGE X is for anyone who loves a sporting challenge. Runners, gym-goers, CrossFit athletes and recreational athletes who want to test their fitness will all find something for themselves.
Do I need to be an elite athlete?
No. STAGE X offers several race formats and categories, so both beginners and experienced racers can find the right fit.
When is the first race?
The first race weekend takes place on 20–21 November at the Brno Exhibition Centre. You can find more information on the event page.
Categories
Which categories are available?
You can choose from the SOLO, DOUBLES and TEAM RELAYS categories.
- Solo – the athlete completes the whole race on their own.
- Doubles – both athletes complete all run segments together. At the stations they may split the work in any ratio, but only one member of the pair may work at a time. They always move on to the next segment together once the whole station is completed.
- Team Relays – this category is for teams who want to take on the race together and combine their strengths into one result. Each team consists of four athletes who split the run segments and stations among themselves according to their own strategy.
What is the difference between Race, Open and Fun?
The main differences are in timing, awards, station weights and how the race is completed.
| Race | Open | Fun | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Timed | Yes | Yes | No |
| Podium awards | Top 3 | No | No |
| All stations mandatory | Yes | Yes | No |
| Distances and reps | Full | Shorter at selected stations | Same as Open |
- Race – this level is for athletes who want to race all out, fight for a placing and compare their performance with the best. It is for everyone who wants to give their maximum, measure themselves against rivals of similar ability and aim for the best possible ranking. The result and ranking are a key part of the race experience here. In Race, the top three athletes in each category are announced and awarded.
- Open – this level is open to ages 18–99. Open is for the general public and everyone who wants to push their limits and work on their fitness without pressure on the final placing. It is the ideal choice for beginners, recreational athletes and anyone who wants to try the course and stations at their own pace. In Open, athletes are timed and the results list is published, but results are not announced or awarded on the podium. Open has shorter distances or fewer reps at selected stations. The exact parameters are defined by the rules of each race.
- Fun – this level is for everyone who wants to experience the STAGE X atmosphere without pressure on performance, rules or finishing time. It is ideal for beginners, families, groups of friends and anyone who mainly wants to enjoy the race. Fun participants do not have to complete all stations or all run segments. If an athlete can't manage a station, doesn't feel up to it or simply doesn't want to do it, they can skip it without penalty and continue along the course. Station parameters are the same as in Open.
